Some recommendations for migrating from AC4 or standard controls to AC5 (for Delphi): 1. All projects must be backuped! 2. All forms Dfm files should be saved in text format (right mouse button click on form in design time and choose "Text Dfm"). Note: If AC4 has been used then do not install AC5 while all forms are not saved as Text Dfm. 3. Install AC5. Instructions for installing can be found in the Readme.txt file 4. Run the AlphaConvert utility ( http://www.alphaskins.com/sfiles/alphaconvert.zip ) 5. Choose files for converting (many files may be selected if used Shift or Ctrl). 6. Choose required converting plan and press "Next". 7. Reopen all forms with AlphaControls 5 and resave them. That's all! We need to say that it's not any problems in upgrading from v4 to v5. That may be made without AlphaConvert even. But upgrading with this tool is more handy. Main rule - all forms must be opened and resaved in Delphi with ignoring of all Delphi warnings. And 'sUtils' must be changed to 'acUtils' in the 'uses' clause (if used). For AC4 users : ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- All Delphi warnings about "Unknown property may be ignored". File sUtils.pas has been renamed to acUtils.pas, you should change your sources manually if this file has been used. DoHook and RefreshScroll procedures has been removed too. All scrolls must work automatically now. TsDriveComboBox, TsFileListView and TsPathComboBox controls has been deprecated. These components are not included in AC5, but may be found in the separated ac4deprecated.zip package . http://www.alphaskins.com/sfiles/ac4deprecated.zip For the package installing just copy it in the AlphaControls package and install sReg.pas file. In this package may be found the old sUtils.pas file for programmers who use it and does not want to change own sources. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
